Why this recording

According to the track identification published by set79 from the recording of the set, Armand Van Helden opens with his own drum'n'bass remix of CJ Bolland's “Sugar Is Sweeter”, then works through a selection largely rooted in late-1990s house: The Bucketheads, Robin S., Modjo, Stardust. Several of his own projects surface, from Duck Sauce, his duo with A-Trak (“Anyway”), to his tracks with Brittles and “The Music Began to Play”, co-written with Mark Knight. The final stretch returns to his own catalogue with “You Don't Know Me”.

Live DJ set captured for Boiler Room in Miami in 2024. A major figure of American house since the 1990s, Armand Van Helden delivers a dense, dancefloor-focused set, built for the club, before a crowd pressed around the decks in the shoulder-cam format that made Boiler Room’s name. A pioneer of “speed garage” and author of classics like “Professional Widow” and “U Don’t Know Me,” the New York producer weaves together house, bass and party-ready selections with the sense of groove and build-up that defines his style. This filmed live performance captures the raw energy of a DJ set experienced in real time, far from studio formats. Keywords: Armand Van Helden live, Boiler Room Miami, house, electro, DJ set 2024.
