In April 2026, American band Big Thief recorded an outdoor acoustic session in the Irish countryside for VRT and Radio 1 (Belgium). Led by Adrianne Lenker on vocals and guitar, with Buck Meek on guitar, James Krivchenia on drums and Joshua Crumbly on bass, this intimate capture illustrates the singular indie folk that made the band’s reputation. Stripped-back and warm, the performance unfolds four songs — “Carry,” “Double Infinity,” “Forgive the Dream” and “Space and Time” — including the title track of their album “Double Infinity.” The open-air recording, in the middle of a field, heightens the closeness and fragility characteristic of Lenker’s writing, between murmurs and emotional swells. This filmed live concert foregrounds the alchemy of a quartet able to reinvent its songs in an acoustic setting. A precious live record for gauging the finesse of one of the most respected folk bands of its generation, far from amplifiers and big stages.
