Live concert film of Cure For Paranoia, a Dallas, Texas hip-hop collective and winner of NPR Music’s 2026 Tiny Desk Contest, recorded at Bob Boilen’s famous desk in Washington and published on May 28, 2026. After four consecutive years of entries, the group led by Cameron McCloud won with “No Brainer,” whose every verse comes from a project in which the rapper posted a new verse each day on Instagram throughout 2025. In this Tiny Desk session, the ten-piece band runs through three songs — “The Artshow,” “No Brainer” and “That Kid Cam” — blending rap, soul, jazz and live improvisation. McCloud recounts the origin of the project, born as therapy following a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia, with music proving, in his words, more effective than medication. This live performance, carried by keys, horns, rhythm section and backing vocals, captures the communal energy of a rising Texas hip-hop scene. A full concert to discover in NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series.
