Erykah Badu & The Alchemist — NTS Session, London, 2026

In 2026, singer Erykah Badu and producer The Alchemist joined forces for an NTS Session, a filmed live concert in an intimate East London setting, built around their joint album Before The World Blows. A founding figure of neo-soul, Erykah Badu unfurls her instantly recognizable voice — jazzy phrasing, soul inflections and freedom to improvise — over the organic, textured productions of The Alchemist, a respected beatmaker of independent hip-hop. The session features the tracks “Echos”, “I Just Play A Part” and “Witch Doctor”, alongside reworkings of older material. Far from standardized promotional formats, this live capture favours atmosphere, silences and the interplay between singer and musicians. It extends the exploration of an artist who, since Baduizm, has kept blurring the lines between soul, jazz, hip-hop and experimental music. A valuable document for grasping the meeting of two complementary worlds, to be discovered as a filmed live session to appreciate the art of groove and voice of one of contemporary soul’s great singers.
