A full live concert by Johnny Winter at the Casino de Montreux on 5 July 1984, during the Montreux Jazz Festival. A virtuoso Texan guitarist and a major figure of blues rock and electric blues, Winter delivers a blazing power-trio set alongside Jon Paris on bass and Tom Compton on drums. Cutting slide, fast phrasing and overdriven tone: he revisits his own repertoire and genre standards, from « Don’t Take Advantage of Me » to « It’s All Over Now », taking in an electric reading of « Jumpin’ Jack Flash » and the obligatory « Johnny B. Goode ». This filmed live performance documents one of the greatest white bluesmen of his generation on the Swiss stage, in the decade when he returned to pure blues after his rock years. An essential full concert for fans of electric guitar and incandescent blues. Filmed live concert, festival, 1980s blues.
