On 1 July 2024 the duo Kiasmos took over the Citadelle de Sisteron for a live set filmed by Cercle, one of the most anticipated electronic performances of the year. Kiasmos pairs Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds with Faroese producer Janus Rasmussen, partners since the early 2010s around a minimal, melodic electronica in which piano, classical textures and muted techno rhythms answer one another. This full concert was captured just days before the release of their second album, II, out on 5 July 2024 via Erased Tapes, and draws heavily on that material: Grown, Laced, Sailed, Blurred, and the track Sisteron written for the occasion and released on Cercle Records. In the film the two musicians perform against the panorama of the medieval fortress overlooking the Durance valley, moving between keyboards, machines and acoustic instruments. The roughly ninety-minute set builds patiently, from contemplative pads toward percussive climaxes, faithful to the Kiasmos live approach. It is a representative example of the Cercle signature: one act, one heritage location, a carefully shot live recording and an electronic sound that is at once cerebral and physical.
