Little Simz — KEXP at Home, 2021

Filmed live session by Little Simz for KEXP at Home, recorded on 26 August 2021 and aired on 11 September 2021 by Seattle radio station KEXP. This multi-song capture catches the British rapper Simbiatu Ajikawo in the release window of her album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert (SIMBI), which went on to win the 2022 Mercury Prize. Backed by her band — Kadeem Clarke on keys, Emanuel J Burton on drums, Kenan Shepherd on bass, Chrio Blake on guitar and Osiris Wilson on vocals and percussion — Little Simz performs “Introvert,” “Woman,” “Venom,” “I Love You, I Hate You” and “Rollin’ Stone.” Four songs come from SIMBI, while “Venom” is taken from GREY Area (2019). This live concert film, in session format, highlights the album’s orchestral arrangements, the precision of her flow and the stage intensity of one of British hip-hop’s most acclaimed voices.
