Filmed live session by reggae singer Luciano, recorded for BBC Radio 1Xtra at the legendary Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Jamaica, in 2024. A major figure of roots reggae and the Rastafari movement, nicknamed The Messenjah, Luciano lets his soulful, spiritual voice ring out in the studio founded by Bob Marley, a landmark of Jamaican music. This live capture, spare and intimate, foregrounds the artist’s vocal power and conscious message, between roots riddims and gospel-reggae fervor. Far from the big festivals, the studio format reveals the sincerity of a performer who marked the 1990s and 2000s with songs that became classics of conscious reggae. This live concert documents the vitality of contemporary roots reggae and the transmission of a unique Jamaican musical heritage. A reggae live performance to discover for the warmth of Luciano’s singing and the aura of a legendary recording site, filmed in the heart of Kingston, the cradle of reggae.
