Live concert filmed at Bob Boilen’s desk for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk series, released on 6 May 2026. Cast members of Ragtime, the musical by Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty in its Tony-nominated Lincoln Center Theater revival, take over the famous desk for an intimate session. Set in early twentieth-century New York, Ragtime interweaves the fates of Black Americans, immigrants and the white upper class, over a score rooted in ragtime, the swung ancestor of jazz. Carried by the voices of Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, Brandon Uranowitz, Colin Donnell, Nichelle Lewis and Ben Levi Ross, accompanied by piano and a string quartet, the artists perform five songs, from « New Music » to the stirring call « Make Them Hear You ». This live capture conveys the dramatic power and burning relevance of the show’s themes. This filmed full concert from 2026 is an ideal way to discover a masterpiece of American musical theatre, in the spare, exacting format that made Tiny Desk a global reference.
