This ‘Hybrid Live’ set was recorded at the Playground camp during Burning Man 2025, in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Playground is a sound camp founded by Carl Cox and known for its house and techno programming out on the playa. Rodriguez Jr., the alias of French musician Olivier Mateu, performs in his hybrid live format: hardware, synthesizers and sequences played in real time rather than a straightforward DJ set on decks. With more than twenty years behind him, first in the duo The Youngsters and later solo on labels such as Mobilee, he has become a reference point for melodic, organic house built on warm pads, rounded bass lines and patient progressions. The live set leans into the particular setting of Burning Man, where the music tracks the desert sunrise or sunset and the community gathered around the camp. No official tracklist accompanies the recording, which is deliberately left blank. The video documents an atmosphere more than a setlist: an artist well versed in large-scale electronic gatherings, adapting his sonic palette to the singular scale and energy of the playa.
