On 28 February 2024, Shaka Ponk took on the intimate format of radio station RTL2’s Concert Très Très Privé. The French rock band, known for its explosive electro-rock and high-octane shows, offers here a largely acoustic, stripped-back reading of its repertoire. This live recording surprises with its restraint: anthems usually carried by saturated guitars and the virtual monkey Mr. Nair appear in a barer light, giving room to the voices and reinvented arrangements. The set runs through « I’m Picky », « Gung Ho », « Run Run Run », a cover of « House of the Rising Sun », « Je m’avance », « Wanna Get Free », « Tout le monde danse » and a final nod to Nirvana’s « Smells Like Teen Spirit ». As the band began its farewell to the stage, this filmed concert offers a touching counterpoint to its reputation for raw energy. A reference for lovers of French rock, live sessions and filmed concerts in radio format, where intimacy reveals another side of a group used to big stages and festival crowds.
