On 19 September 1981, Simon & Garfunkel reunited for a free concert on the Great Lawn of Central Park, New York, before a crowd estimated in the hundreds of thousands. This filmed concert, immortalised by the album « The Concert in Central Park » released in 1982, marks the reunion of the most emblematic folk rock duo in the United States, with proceeds going to the park’s renovation. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel run through their timeless classics: « Mrs. Robinson », « The Boxer », « The Sound of Silence », « Bridge over Troubled Water », « The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy) », as well as Paul Simon solo tracks such as « Late in the Evening », « Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard » and « Kodachrome ». Carried by inimitable vocal harmonies and palpable emotion, this live recording remains one of the great moments in the history of the open-air concert. A reference for lovers of folk, pop-rock and archival filmed concerts, to relive for the grace of a repertoire and the magic of a New York evening that became legendary.
