Filmed live for Seattle radio station KEXP as part of the « KEXP at Home » series, this session features Slow Pulp, the indie rock quartet from Madison, Wisconsin, later based in Chicago. Recorded in 2020 at Palisade studio, the performance delivers five songs — « Idaho », « Falling Apart », « Track », « Trade It » and « Montana » — mostly drawn from their debut album Moving On. Driven by Emily Massey’s hazy vocals and Henry Stoehr’s grainy guitars, the band unfolds a sound that is at once shoegaze and melancholic pop, thickened by Ashley Guerrero’s additional percussion. This live concert, spare and intimate, showcases KEXP’s signature aesthetic: careful sound capture, stripped-back arrangements and closeness to the musicians. A full concert perfect for discovering one of the defining bands of the late-2010s American indie rock revival. Shot by Alec Basse and Max Moore, the video highlights Slow Pulp’s instrumental texture and nuanced songwriting, poised between fragility and restrained intensity across every song of the set.
