Live session by Sturgill Simpson recorded at Seattle radio station KEXP on October 10, 2013. A Kentucky songwriter, Sturgill Simpson has become one of the most distinctive voices in americana and alt-country, on the edge of folk and Southern rock. In the intimacy of the KEXP studio, he performs “I Never Go Around Mirrors,” “Poor Rambler,” “Railroad of Sin” and “Listening to the Rain,” carried by a deep voice and a raw guitar inherited from the great songwriters. The spare, precise capture foregrounds the writing and tone of an artist who would soon earn critical acclaim. A live concert filmed in high definition, perfect for fans of folk, americana and country song. Host: Don Slack; audio engineer: Kevin Suggs; cameras: Jim Beckmann, Luke Knecht and Justin Wilmore.
