The Dead South — House of Blues, Boston, 2020

Published on August 9, 2026 by

Live concert film of The Dead South at the House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts, recorded on 7 January 2020 and produced by GBH Music. A Canadian band from Regina, Saskatchewan, The Dead South rose on the folk and bluegrass scene with a strong western aesthetic and the viral hit « In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company ». This full set showcases the quartet’s signature acoustic instrumentation: guitar, mandolin, banjo and cello, with no drums. The setlist runs through « Diamond Ring », « Black Lung », « Boots », « Spaghetti », « In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company » and « Banjo Odyssey », between dark ballads and frenzied numbers. On stage, Nathaniel Hilts, Scott Pringle, Danny Kenyon and Colton Crawford deliver vocal harmonies and nervy playing with an energy close to folk-punk. The multi-camera recording, filmed in the Boston venue, conveys the intimacy and precision of a modern bluegrass concert. A live concert film ideal for discovering the revival of North American folk and bluegrass.
