Thylacine — Solar Eclipse, Pic du Midi, 2026

Why this recording

Shot at the summit of the Pic du Midi during the solar eclipse of summer 2026, this live set is the artist's own production: Thylacine co-directs with Cécile Chabert, who operates one of the two cameras, and edits it himself under the Intuitive Studio banner. Eclipse footage supplied by the Pic du Midi observatory is woven into the film. Seventeen chaptered pieces run through to "Bosphorus" at 1:19:50. In the description, the artist mentions a spell of oxygen deprivation which, he says, starts to show in the very last seconds.

This live concert captures an exceptional performance by French producer Thylacine (William Rezé) at the summit of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, in the Pyrenees, during the summer 2026 solar eclipse. A major figure of the French electronic scene, Thylacine delivers a seventeen-track live set blending electronic music, organic textures and piano playing by Bravinsan Karunanithy. The set includes “Shark Island”, “Kolman”, “Satie II”, “Eysturoy” (feat. Eivør), “Discussion with a Giant”, “OVNI(s)”, “Anatolia” and “Bosphorus”. Set against a spectacular high-mountain backdrop, the music dialogues with images of the eclipse captured by the Pic du Midi observatory. Directed by Cécile Chabert and Thylacine, this capture embodies the artist’s approach of anchoring his concerts in remarkable natural locations. An immersive, cinematic electro live, ideal for discovering Thylacine’s melodic universe in 2026, between electronica, neoclassical and soundscapes. A rare performance at the crossroads of concert and visual experience, filmed high above the clouds during a once-in-a-lifetime astronomical event.
