Alicia Keys — MTV Unplugged, Brooklyn, 2005

Live concert by Alicia Keys recorded for MTV Unplugged at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York on 14 July 2005. In the show’s great acoustic tradition, the singer, pianist and songwriter unfolds a soul and R&B set in which her voice and piano take centre stage, backed by strings, horns and backing vocals. She revisits her signature songs from “Songs in A Minor” and “The Diary of Alicia Keys”, including “Fallin'”, “If I Ain’t Got You”, “Karma” and “Diary”, alongside covers and new creations. Several guests join the stage, among them Adam Levine, Common, Mos Def and Damian Marley, enriching an already sumptuous lineup. This filmed live recording, which became a successful album, illustrates the art of a performer able to combine soul heritage, pop writing and jazz sensibility. An ideal document for fans of soul, R&B and filmed live concerts, capturing Alicia Keys at the peak of her young career, in an intimate, orchestral version of her repertoire.
