Why this recording

Two staging moments, reported in the description, mark the night: André Rieu and the orchestra arriving on Vespas to “Azzurro” at the start, and, during “The Beautiful Blue Danube” (1:51:11), Rieu stepping off stage to waltz with his oldest fan, a first in his career according to the channel. “Marina”, guest Rocco Granata's hit, appears twice, at 2:22:20 and again to close. The full video was republished in 2026 ahead of concerts in Italy.

Live full concert by André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra, filmed on the Vrijthof square in Maastricht, Netherlands, during the ‘Love in Venice’ show staged in 2014 to mark the tenth anniversary of his summer concerts in his hometown. For the occasion, the Dutch violinist and conductor transformed the Vrijthof into a Venetian square, complete with a Doge’s Palace backdrop, the Rialto Bridge, gondolas and a masquerade. Running more than two and a half hours, this full concert unfolds a broad program of Italian music and Viennese waltzes, including ‘Azzurro’, ‘Funiculi Funicula’, ‘Volare’, ‘Vieni sul Mar’, ‘Tiritomba’, Offenbach’s ‘Barcarole’, ‘The Beautiful Blue Danube’ and the Radetzky March. Italian singer Rocco Granata appears as a guest to perform his hit ‘Marina’. True to Rieu’s signature formula, the recording blends large-scale popular spectacle, orchestral virtuosity and more intimate passages, within a carefully designed staging and a polished live sound. This live document is representative of the celebrated Vrijthof evenings, where André Rieu gathers an international audience each summer around his festive and romantic repertoire, and stands as one of the most elaborate productions in his long series of Maastricht open-air concerts.
