Filmed live concert of the Andrea Motis Quintet at the Moods club in Zurich, on 8 January 2019, captured and streamed by Qwest TV, the platform founded by Quincy Jones. A Catalan trumpeter and singer who emerged very young through Barcelona’s Sant Andreu school, Andrea Motis established herself by the late 2010s as one of the most visible voices in Spanish jazz. In Zurich she is surrounded by her mentor Joan Chamorro on double bass, Josep Traver on guitar, Ignasi Terraza on piano and Esteve Pi on drums. The repertoire, typical of her approach, blends American standards, bossa nova and original tunes, alternating intimate singing, fluid trumpet lines and the airy arrangements of a small ensemble. This live performance, filmed in the hushed atmosphere of a jazz club, benefits from high-quality picture and sound that convey the closeness of the stage.
