A filmed live concert by Anoushka Shankar at the Les Nuits de Fourvière festival in Lyon on 13 July 2012. A British-Indian sitarist and composer, daughter of Ravi Shankar, she presents the repertoire of her album Traveller (2011), which explores the correspondences between Indian classical music and flamenco. On stage she is surrounded by a cross-cultural ensemble: Sanjeev Shankar on shehnai and tanpura, Melón Jiménez on flamenco guitar, Sandra Carrasco on vocals, Pirashanna Thevarajah on Indian percussion and El Piraña on cajón. This full concert runs through Inside Me, Ishq, Bulería, Traveller and Jog, in a constant dialogue between ragas and flamenco compás. The capture, broadcast by Arte France, renders the delicacy of the timbres and the intensity of improvisation specific to this cultural encounter. A reference complete live concert for fans of world music and fusion, this document shows Anoushka Shankar on stage in 2012, in the prestigious setting of a Lyon Roman theatre, carried by a project acclaimed by international critics.
