In December 2016, the American radio station KEXP filmed the Paris band BLOW in the rotunda of the Rennes Opera House during the Rencontres Trans Musicales 2016. This filmed live session introduces a four-piece dance rock and electro-pop outfit: Quentin Guglielmi (vocals), Thomas Clairice (moog, bass), Jean-Etienne Maillard (guitar) and Pierre-Elie Abergel (drums). Added at the last minute to the KEXP sessions program, the band delivers an energetic, compact performance built on shimmering synths and danceable rhythms that KEXP likened to Yeasayer, Jungle and Passion Pit. The unusual setting of the gilded Rennes Opera House contrasts with the pop electricity of the set and gives this capture its particular charm. No detailed and reliable setlist has been documented for this session. An ideal window onto the French electro-pop scene and the “live on KEXP” format, this BLOW live concert at the Trans Musicales 2016 will appeal to anyone curious about French indie and about discoveries made in live session, catching a rising band in a room that rarely hosts music like this.
