Youth Lagoon — A Take Away Show (La Blogothèque), 2015

Intimate live session by Youth Lagoon filmed in September 2015 at Sonnenkönig, in Saint-Ouen, for La Blogothèque’s « A Take Away Show » series. The project of American songwriter Trevor Powers, Youth Lagoon is a notable figure of 2010s dream pop and lo-fi, known for melancholic synth textures and a fragile voice. In this signature La Blogothèque format, the artist performs two songs — « Highway Patrol Stun Gun » and « Kerry » — captured in a hushed, spontaneous atmosphere, far from conventional stage conditions. Directed by Elie Girard, with careful sound by Tristan Mazire and produced by Ondine Benetier, the video illustrates the art of these filmed sessions that reinvented how live music is documented. For more than a decade, La Blogothèque has filmed rare and intimate performances with artists in unexpected places, and this session captures Youth Lagoon in exactly that spirit. An ideal document for anyone who enjoys intimate pop and the off-stage captures that built La Blogothèque’s reputation. Filmed live session, dream pop, intimate live performance.
