Full concert of Boris Brejcha filmed live at the Arènes de Nîmes on 18 April 2022 for Cercle. Inside the city’s Roman amphitheatre, the German producer and DJ — a leading figure of the melodic techno and self-styled “high-tech minimal” scene — delivers a solo set before the stone tiers, wearing his signature joker mask. Shot in the late afternoon and into the sunset, the Cercle capture makes full use of the ancient setting and the series’ trademark aerial cinematography: drone sweeps over the arena, a packed crowd and the booth placed at the centre of the ellipse. The set showcases Brejcha’s signature sound — cinematic pads, rolling basslines and widescreen techno builds — drawing on several of his key productions for the FCKNG SERIOUS label. As one of the standout techno moments of Cercle’s 2022 season, this live performance stages the meeting of a two-thousand-year-old monument and contemporary electronic music.
