Brio Sonores — Chișinău, 2019

Why this recording

Posted on the group's official channel eight months after the event, the video covers the whole of a gala lasting almost two hours at the Palatul Național. The concert announcement promised a programme drawn from both the Moldovan and the international repertoire, built around a tribute to women. Moldova Concert's production turns it into a show with guests, the vocal quartet sharing the stage with an orchestra, a choir and a ballet company. The sound was given dedicated mixing and mastering.

This full concert captures Brio Sonores, a vocal group from the Republic of Moldova moving between pop and classical crossover, in a show staged on 8 March 2019 at the Palatul Național “Nicolae Sulac” in Chișinău. Titled “Tu ești primăvara mea” (You Are My Spring), the live event is dedicated to International Women’s Day and forms part of the Mărțișor festival. The quartet — Dumitru Mîțu, Mihai Gandraman, Veaceslav Timofti and Vitalie Maciunschi — is backed on stage by the ETHNO REPUBLIC orchestra conducted by Marcel Ștefăneț. The evening showcases several guests: veteran singer Iurie Sadovnic, Kornelia Ștefăneț, Ana Cernicova, Amelia Uzun, the Gloria choir and the Black&White dance show. Produced by Moldova Concert under the direction of Svetlana Frumusachi, this nearly two-hour live concert highlights the muzică ușoară and Moldovan pop repertoire that Brio Sonores brings to Chișinău. Video capture is by Vlad Ivascu, with mixing and mastering handled by Valentin Voluta. It stands as a reference document for anyone following Moldova’s pop scene in 2019.
