Central Cee — Alexandra Palace, London, 2022

Filmed concert by Central Cee at London’s Alexandra Palace, the closing date of the “Still Loading World Tour” in 2022, captured and streamed by Amazon Music. A figurehead of the new wave of British rap, the West London MC established himself in just a few mixtapes as one of UK drill’s most-streamed artists, carried by a melodic flow and unstoppable hooks. In front of a packed Ally Pally, he delivers a nervy live set, chanted along by a crowd that knows every word, punctuated by a carefully staged production (a black-and-white film, unreleased freestyles). This live capture highlights the energy of a London rap scene in the midst of its international breakthrough. The full concert video documents a pivotal moment in Central Cee’s rise, on home turf, in an iconic venue of the British capital. Worth discovering for the intensity of the performance, the connection with the audience and the vitality of a filmed live concert representative of 2020s UK hip-hop.
