Live concert film of Cheikh Lô, recorded on January 20, 2020 at the KEXP radio studio in Seattle and published in May 2020. A leading figure of Senegalese music, Cheikh Lô blends mbalax, Afro-Cuban rhythms, folk and soul across a near thirty-seven-minute acoustic-electric session. A follower of the Baye Fall Sufi brotherhood, the singer and guitarist delivers four songs — “Guiss Guiss,” “Degg Gui,” “Bourama” and “Doxandeme” — driven by tight percussion, Wolof guitar lines and his supple, gentle voice. This live in-studio performance, captured by the KEXP crew, showcases the rhythmic depth and spirituality that have run through his repertoire since the albums Ne La Thiass and Bambay Gueej. It is an ideal full concert for discovering contemporary Senegalese world music and the singular style of an artist praised by Youssou N’Dour and international critics. The full performance is available in high-quality audio and video, in the tradition of the live sessions filmed at the KEXP studio in Seattle.
