Why this recording

The set opens with Stussy's own edit of Moby's « Go » and later slips in another of his edits, this time of Pink Floyd's « Another Brick in the Wall »: two reworks that set the tone for a selection in which his own productions keep resurfacing. The night took place at Warehouse '92 in Edinburgh; 1001Tracklists dates it to 19 May 2024, a little over three weeks before Boiler Room put it online on 12 June. Near the end, listen for the a cappella of Todd Terry's « Something Going On », featuring Martha Wash and Jocelyn Brown.

Filmed live DJ set by Chris Stussy for Boiler Room in Edinburgh, 2024. A rising force in Dutch house, the Amsterdam producer has become one of the most in-demand DJs of the European tech-house and deep-house scene. This live capture conveys the intensity of a Boiler Room set, the cult format in which the crowd surrounds the booth and dances right up against the artist. Across roughly seventy-five minutes, Chris Stussy runs a continuous, groovy mix — round basslines, organic percussion and carefully judged builds — in the charged atmosphere of a Scottish club. The filmed concert captures both the DJ’s technical precision and the fervour of the crowd. A reference electronic session for grasping the energy of the new house sound and the worldwide pull of the Boiler Room brand. Born in London, the Boiler Room concept revolutionised the way live electronic music is filmed, placing the camera at the heart of the party. Each set becomes a raw document, without spectacular editing, right up against the decks. This filmed concert by Chris Stussy fully embraces that spirit and confirms his status as a safe bet of today’s European house.
