Cigarettes After Sex — Session privée ARTE, Paris, 2019

Live concert filmed by ARTE Concert during a private session by the band Cigarettes After Sex in Paris, in 2019. An American outfit led by Greg Gonzalez, Cigarettes After Sex embodies a hazy, minimalist dream pop: reverb-drenched guitars, slow tempos, a murmured androgynous voice and nocturnal atmospheres that built a genuine cult around their black-and-white aesthetic. This capture documents an intimate live performance, filmed under ARTE’s careful conditions, where the sonic restraint and deliberate slowness place every nuance in the foreground. Far from big festival shows, this format highlights the project’s coherence: a sound recognizable among thousands, suspended and melancholic. The video conveys the full texture of the band’s live set, between romantic torpor and muted tension. For fans of dream pop, slowcore and atmospheric pop, this 2019 live concert is a landmark: a cult band, an ARTE Paris capture and a complete performance that illustrates, in a private, hushed setting, the singular signature of Cigarettes After Sex on stage.
