Crispy Chicken Duo — Marimba & Vibraphone Latin Jazz, 2024

Live concert by the Crispy Chicken duo, filmed in 2024, devoted to latin jazz for marimba and vibraphone. Founded in Nuremberg by Felix Bratfisch and Fidel Zaldumbide, this keyboard-percussion duo explores an original repertoire in which the warm timbres of the marimba and the crystalline tones of the vibraphone answer one another, between jazz, Latin rhythms and improvisation. Far from usual formats, the ensemble puts two instruments rarely seen in the spotlight front and centre, in arrangements that exploit the full harmonic and rhythmic richness of mallet playing. This filmed live concert illustrates the inventiveness of the young European jazz scene and the vitality of instrumental latin jazz, carried here by the virtuosity and chemistry of the two musicians. The capture highlights the precision of the playing and the clarity of the timbres, for listening that is both demanding and accessible. An original document for fans of jazz, melodic percussion and Latin music, revealing a singular approach to the marimba-vibraphone duo, captured in 2024 in Germany.
