Nuestro Tiempo Latin Jazz — JazzArts Charlotte, 2024

Live concert by the Nuestro Tiempo Latin Jazz program of JazzArts Charlotte, filmed in spring 2024 in North Carolina. Driven by the JazzArts organisation, a major player in jazz education and presentation in Charlotte, this ensemble showcases latin jazz, at the crossroads of African-American jazz and Afro-Cuban and Latin American rhythms. On stage, the group unfolds a latin jazz repertoire in which percussion, horns, piano and double bass converse in lively arrangements, between montuno, descarga and improvisation. This filmed live concert illustrates the vitality of jazz education programs in the United States and the transmission of a cross-bred musical tradition to new generations of musicians. The capture conveys the collective energy of the ensemble and the warmth of a music made as much for dancing as for listening. An interesting document for fans of jazz and Latin music, offering latin jazz in a lively, accessible setting, captured in 2024 in Charlotte.
