Hot Since 82 – Live at Culture Club Revelin Terrace, Dubrovnik, 2019 (Cercle)

On 17 June 2019, Cercle set up its decks on the terrace of Culture Club Revelin, a sixteenth-century fortress perched on the old-town ramparts of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Behind them: Hot Since 82, the alias of British producer and DJ Daley Padley, a Barnsley native who became a leading figure in house and tech house and founded the Knee Deep In Sound label. True to Cercle’s signature approach — filming electronic artists in heritage or spectacular locations — this roughly 1h48 live filmed concert was captured at sunset, facing the Adriatic Sea, and streamed on Cercle’s YouTube channel. Hot Since 82 delivers a deep, groove-driven DJ set moving from classic house (Blaze’s “Lovelee Dae”) to reworked staples (Roy Ayers’ “Holiday” in Ben Rau’s remix, Everything But The Girl’s “Tracey In My Room”) and tighter tech-house cuts from Gorge & Markus Homm or Harry Romero. The set embodies the meeting of a history-laden venue and a demanding electronic programme, standing as a reference document for discovering the artist in a truly unique setting.
