Mad Season — The Moore Theatre, Seattle, 1995

Why this recording

On 29 April 1995 at the Moore Theatre, Mad Season played what the description calls their final show. Front Row Music's upload carries the reissue, remixed and remastered for 5.1 and re-edited by director Duncan Sharp, with four previously unseen performances including “Wake Up”. At 2 h 31 it goes well beyond the Moore night: it adds the New Year's Eve 1994 show at RKCNDY, shot up close by the band's own crew, both performances from Pearl Jam's pirate radio special Self-Pollution Radio, and the “River of Deceit” video.

Filmed live concert by Mad Season at Seattle’s Moore Theatre in 1995, a rare document of the grunge supergroup assembled for the album Above. Built around singer Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) and guitarist Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), with John Baker Saunders on bass and Barrett Martin on drums, the band delivers a set as intense as it is fragile. Electric blues, haunted slow tempos and raw-nerve vocals define this cult capture. Filmed in the historic Seattle venue, the performance preserves a unique moment of the Pacific Northwest scene, never repeated onstage afterward. An essential full concert for understanding grunge beyond its hits. Keywords: Mad Season live, The Moore 1995, Layne Staley, grunge, filmed live concert, full concert, Seattle.
