Live full concert of Norah Jones at the North Sea Jazz Festival, filmed on 9 July 2010 in the Ahoy hall in Rotterdam. At this point the American singer and pianist was touring The Fall (2009), a more electric, rock-leaning album that pulled her away from the hushed jazz of her early records. On stage she moves between piano, guitar and voice, backed by a tight band featuring Sasha Dobson, Smokey Hormel, John Kirby, Gus Seyffert and Joey Waronker. The set spans her catalogue, from signature songs such as “Don’t Know Why” and “Come Away With Me” to the grittier material of The Fall like “Chasing Pirates” and “Young Blood,” alongside country and soul covers. Recorded for Dutch public television, the capture preserves the acoustics and intimacy of this live performance before the audience of Europe’s largest jazz festival. It documents an artist in the middle of an aesthetic shift, moving through folk, soul and pop while keeping the grain of voice that made her name. An essential live record of Norah Jones in concert at a pivotal moment.
