Earl Klugh — Java Jazz Festival, 2013

Full live concert of American guitarist Earl Klugh at the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival on 3 March 2013, filmed on the D2 Hall stage at JiExpo Kemayoran. A leading voice of smooth jazz and nylon-string acoustic guitar, Klugh performs a twelve-song set accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Nelson Rangell. The live performance moves through signatures of his catalogue — « Living Inside Your Love », « Across the Sand », « Midnight in San Juan » — plus a solo acoustic reading of « This Time » that showcases the delicate fingerstyle he drew from Chet Atkins and George Benson. Shared by the festival’s official channel, this full concert captures the Indonesian audience’s lasting devotion to Java Jazz, one of Asia’s largest jazz gatherings. For the connoisseur it is a reference live concert video: clear tone, hushed groove and the melodic phrasing that defines Earl Klugh. Ninety minutes of elegant instrumental jazz, perfect for discovering or revisiting a true guitar master in 2013.
