Filmed live DJ set by minimal-techno pioneer Richie Hawtin, captured by Boiler Room in Amsterdam on 20 October 2011 during a takeover by his label Minus, as part of Amsterdam Dance Event. Also known as Plastikman, the Canadian-British artist has been one of techno’s most influential figures since the 1990s, renowned for hypnotic sets, surgical precision and a minimalist approach to mixing. In front of Boiler Room’s trademark close-up camera, he unfurls nearly seventy minutes of deep, cerebral techno on a night shared with Dubfire, Seth Troxler and Ambivalent. As no reliable tracklist could be verified for this set, none is reproduced here. An essential document of filmed club culture, worth watching for the patient tension of the build-up and the art of groove stripped to the bone.
