Amelie Lens — Cercle at the Atomium, 2019

Live DJ set by Amelie Lens at the foot of Brussels’s Atomium on 15 July 2019, filmed and streamed live by Cercle. A figurehead of Belgian and international techno, Amelie Lens delivers a ninety-minute set here before around three thousand spectators, in a setting that has become emblematic of Cercle’s signature: pairing an electronic performance with a spectacular heritage landmark. Tickets sold out within hours, the crowd packed in at sunset, the Atomium’s steel spheres as a backdrop: the capture blends aerial drone footage with close-ups of the booth. Musically, Amelie Lens unfolds a fast, hypnotic and melodic techno, true to the scene she embodies and that built her reputation on the biggest festivals. This filmed live set is both a document on the rise of Belgian techno and a showcase of the Cercle format, where architecture becomes the stage. For lovers of electronic music and outdoor DJ sets, this Brussels performance by Amelie Lens is a genre reference.
