On January 14, 2015, Solomun set up his decks in Tulum, on Mexico’s Caribbean coast, for a DJ set that has since become a cult favorite, captured by Boiler Room as part of the BPM Festival and the Diynamic Takeover. True to Boiler Room’s ethos of intimate sets played close to the crowd, the performance swaps the cramped club for an open-air setting between jungle and fading daylight. The Bosnian-German producer, head of the Diynamic label and a leading figure in melodic and deep house, delivers a live set of around two hours rich in his own edits, from ‘New Dorp. New York’ to reworkings of his own making. His emotional yet hypnotic selection embodies the style that built his reputation in the clubs of Ibiza, where his ‘Solomun +1’ residency became an institution. This Boiler Room capture, widely shared ever since, ranks among the most iconic moments associated with the artist. For electronic-music connoisseurs, this full set in Tulum documents Solomun at the height of his international rise, in a natural setting that heightens the organic dimension of his music.
