Solomun — Cercle, Théâtre Antique d’Orange, 2018

A DJ set filmed by Cercle in 2018 at the Théâtre Antique d’Orange, a Roman amphitheater listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this live capture stages Solomun, one of the most influential DJs and producers of house and melodic techno. The Bosnian-German, founder of the Diynamic label and an Ibiza nightlife figure, unfolds nearly two hours of a deep, hypnotic set, alternating organic house, melodic techno and sharp selections (Phuture, Matthew Dear, his own productions such as Ich Muss Los). Cercle’s direction elevates the ancient wall and stone tiers, offering a striking contrast between millennia-old architecture and contemporary electronic music. Played live at sunset, this techno concert illustrates the art of the build-up and storytelling that is Solomun’s own, holding a crowd in suspense over the long form. A reference capture to appreciate a DJ set filmed in an exceptional location, between heritage and club culture. This full set, recorded in Orange, can be watched online from start to finish.
