Full concert live footage of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble at The Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey, on September 21, 1985. This live recording captures the Texas guitarist at the peak of his powers, touring in support of the Soul to Soul album. Double Trouble appears here as a four-piece: Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar and vocals, Tommy Shannon on bass, Chris Layton on drums, and newcomer Reese Wynans on keyboards, who had joined the band in early 1985. Shot inside this historic northern New Jersey venue, the video preserves the raw energy of the group as it expanded from a trio: incandescent guitar work, a mix of blues covers and originals drawn from Texas Flood, Couldn’t Stand the Weather and Soul to Soul. Between his overdriven Fender Stratocaster, his Hendrix-inspired flights and his phrasing deeply rooted in Texas blues, Vaughan delivers a generous, hard-driving show spanning nervous instrumentals, ballads and electric boogies. An essential live document explaining why Stevie Ray Vaughan remains one of the most influential blues guitarists of the 1980s.
