Full concert filmed on 25 August 2016 at the Uprising Reggae Festival in Bratislava, Slovakia. A legendary Jamaican group, The Congos owe their fame to Heart of the Congos, a roots reggae masterpiece produced by Lee « Scratch » Perry in 1977 and celebrated for its heavenly vocal harmonies. Four decades on, the band carries that legacy to the stage, driven by voices that blend falsetto and deep register in the purest tradition of spiritual reggae. In this live capture, the group unfolds a set steeped in Rasta mysticism, deep bass and one-drop rhythms, between fervour and gentleness. The Uprising Festival camera conveys the communion between the Jamaican veterans and a fervent European crowd gathered in the heart of summer. This filmed live performance is a precious testimony to the longevity and transmission of roots reggae, far from Jamaica yet true to its spirit. An ideal document for discovering The Congos on stage in 2016 and the universality of a music of resistance and upliftment, more than forty years after their debut.
