Alison Krauss & Union Station — Live at the Louisville Palace, Louisville, 2002
This is the live concert by Alison Krauss + Union Station, recorded on April 29–30, 2002 at the Louisville Palace in Louisville, Kentucky, and issued in 2002 as an album and later on DVD. By then, fiddler and singer Alison Krauss was already a multiple Grammy winner, riding the enormous success of the “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” soundtrack that brought bluegrass to a mass audience. This full concert features the complete band: Dan Tyminski, Ron Block, Barry Bales, Jerry Douglas on dobro and drummer Larry Atamanuik. The repertoire alternates crystalline ballads (“Baby, Now That I’ve Found You,” “Ghost in This House,” “When You Say Nothing at All”) with virtuoso bluegrass instrumentals (“Choctaw Hayride,” “Cluck Old Hen”), alongside “The Lucky One,” “New Favorite” and the celebrated “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow” sung by Tyminski. Moving between folk, country and bluegrass, the group showcases the vocal harmonies and instrumental precision that built its live reputation. The tracklist below follows the official live album; note that “Down to the River to Pray” was taken from Austin City Limits rather than the Louisville Palace.
