The British duo CamelPhat, formed in Liverpool by Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala, broke through worldwide with the hit “Cola” before becoming a mainstay of melodic house and tech-house. This DJ set, filmed as part of the Mixmag Lab in London, belongs to the magazine’s cult series, which places artists in an intimate studio-club for a live stream to the electronic-music community. A carefully produced live recording, the video highlights the duo’s command of groove: deep basslines, enveloping synth pads and progressive build-ups tailored for the dancefloor. Over two hours, CamelPhat strings tracks together with a keen sense of dynamics, alternating hypnotic passages and euphoric accelerations. The Mixmag Lab format, shot up close to the decks, offers rare proximity to the DJs and a faithfully rendered club atmosphere. An ideal electronic live concert for fans of melodic house and tech-house, with particularly polished image and sound that make it one of the most rewarding Mixmag Lab sessions to watch from start to finish.
