Full concert capture of HAUSER’s Classic Gala, filmed at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 9 May 2024. A former member of the duo 2Cellos, the Croatian cellist Stjepan Hauser presents a classical and crossover programme backed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Robert Ziegler. This live performance features several guests: violinist Caroline Campbell, singer Lara Fabian and soprano Aida Garifullina. The repertoire blends major Romantic pages with more popular arrangements: excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, “Song to the Moon” from Dvořák’s Rusalka, Piazzolla tangos, Shostakovich’s Waltz No. 2 and “The Lonely Shepherd.” Shot in 4K and broadcast on PBS, this capture illustrates HAUSER’s approach: bringing the cello to a wide audience while keeping a full symphonic setting.
