Recorded before a small audience and livestreamed, the session unfolds a wide live repertoire — Nothing Makes Me Feel Better, Roots (Back To A Way Of Life), Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing, Still A Friend Of Mine, Always There… — carried by a razor-sharp rhythm section and horns. Around Bluey (vocals, guitar) and bassist and musical director Francis Hylton, a dozen musicians and several singers (Cheri V, Natalie Duncan, Tony Momrelle) bring this refined soul-funk groove to life, between keyboard pads, backing vocals and solos. Filmed with multiple cameras and studio-grade care, this performance shows the full machinery of a great funk orchestra in action.
