This filmed live concert presents Juan Luis Guerra and his band 4.40 in Entre Mar y Palmeras, filmed on Esmeralda Beach in Miches, Dominican Republic, and released in 2021. A major figure of Latin music, the Dominican celebrates his repertoire of merengue, bachata and bolero in a natural setting of sea and palm trees, without an audience, in a staging directed by his son Jean Guerra. The full concert runs through sixteen songs, from timeless hits such as Burbujas de Amor, La Bilirrubina, Ojalá Que Llueva Café and Bachata Rosa to more recent tracks and a long bachata medley. On stage the orchestra deploys the horns, backing vocals and refined arrangements that have been the band’s signature since the 1980s. The careful capture, between natural light and wide format, highlights Guerra’s warm voice and the precision of his ensemble. Representative of 2020s live Latin concerts, this document is a fine entry point into the work of an emblematic artist of the Caribbean.
