A live concert by Los Tigres del Norte at NPR Music’s Tiny Desk, released on 15 October 2026 as part of the series’ “Latin Music Month” (“El Tiny”). A true institution of norteño music, the California-based Mexican band marks nearly sixty years of putting the lives of Latino communities and the migrant experience into song. Behind the small Washington desk, accordion and bajo sexto to the fore, the Hernández family performs some of its most emblematic songs — “Somos Más Americanos,” “Golpes en el Corazón,” “Quiero Volar Contigo” and “La Puerta Negra” — alternating socially engaged corridos with romantic boleros. Between numbers, the band delivers a poignant address on the identity and dignity of migrants, in a social context NPR chose to restore in full. A spare, emotion-laden live capture, this filmed concert distills the art of Los Tigres del Norte: popular melodies in the service of a collective narrative, carried by vocal harmonies and a sense of the chorus inherited from the norteño tradition.
