Metallica — M72 World Tour, North America, 2024

Why this recording

Thirty songs, fourteen shows, no repeats: this 3 h 25 edit pulls together the 2024 North American leg of the M72 tour, from Foxborough on 2 August to Mexico City on 29 September, taking two songs from each night. Because the set changed from one night to the next, “The Call of Ktulu”, “Inamorata”, “Of Wolf and Man” and “Leper Messiah” sit alongside “One” and “Master of Puppets”. Two segments, “Fuel” and “Enter Sandman”, are shot with a 360° camera. The chapters give the city and date for every song; the HD compilation is a fan's work.

This filmed concert brings together highlights from Metallica’s M72 tour across North America in 2024, the Californian band being one of the most influential groups in the history of heavy metal and thrash metal. Built around an in-the-round stage and a ‘No Repeat Weekend’ format offering two different setlists per city, the M72 tour supports the album 72 Seasons. This full concert reveals the relentless machinery of the quartet — James Hetfield’s riffs, Kirk Hammett’s solos, Robert Trujillo’s bass and Lars Ulrich’s drums — across classics and recent tracks. The capture conveys the scale of a stadium show, with its monumental production and communion with the crowd. A compilation of live performances from the tour, this document underscores Metallica’s longevity and stage power more than forty years after its beginnings. A reference filmed live for metal fans, captured on the M72 tour in North America in 2024.
