Live capture of The Wailers at the Reggae Lake Festival, in Amsterdam’s Gaasperpark, in the Netherlands, on 18 August 2024. Direct heirs to the group founded by Bob Marley, The Wailers carry forward the Jamaican roots reggae repertoire under the leadership of bassist Aston Barrett Jr., son of the legendary Aston ‘Familyman’ Barrett. For this edition of the Dutch festival, the band is fronted by singer Mitchell Brunings, whose tone recalls Marley’s own. This live recording conveys the energy of an open-air set before the crowd of one of Europe’s major reggae gatherings, built on deep bass-and-drums grooves, horns and vocal harmonies. The capture continues The Wailers’ ongoing work of transmission, as living guardians of a global musical heritage born in Kingston. Ideal for fans of roots reggae, dub and sound system culture, the video documents a 2024 performance marked by festival fervor and fidelity to the original Wailers sound.
