Full concert capture of André Rieu live at Radio City Music Hall in New York, recorded in July 2006 and released as New York Memories. The Dutch violinist leads his Johann Strauss Orchestra in his first major filmed show in the United States, in one of Manhattan’s most famous venues. True to his formula, the programme blends Viennese waltzes, opera and musical-theatre numbers, American standards and popular pieces: “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “My Way,” “The Music of the Night,” “The Beautiful Blue Danube,” “Radetzky March,” “America the Beautiful” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever.” The concert features several guests, including the Harlem Gospel Choir and the young violinist Akim Camara. This live performance illustrates the Rieu show as he exports it internationally: an orchestra in full evening dress, careful staging and constant interaction with the audience. A filmed full concert that documents his crowd-pleasing repertoire in the mid-2000s, later broadcast on PBS.
