Live capture of Audioslave at the T in the Park festival in Balado (Kinross, Scotland) on 9 July 2005. The supergroup uniting Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) with the Rage Against the Machine rhythm engine — Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk — was touring its second album, Out of Exile, released in May 2005. This filmed live concert alternates originals (Be Yourself, Doesn’t Remind Me, Like a Stone) with explosive reworkings drawn from the members’ past bands: RATM’s Killing in the Name and Bulls on Parade, Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun. Cornell’s voice and Morello’s textured riffing drive a muscular rock set caught in the middle of the Scottish festival. A valuable document of a short-lived outfit (2001-2007), seen here at the peak of its stage power. A full concert perfect for rediscovering Audioslave in 2005, a pivotal year for festival alternative rock. Chris Cornell, who died in 2017, delivers a masterful vocal performance here, making this capture all the more precious today. Its audio and video quality make it a must for any fan of alternative rock live.
